Google Authenticator добавляет дополнительный уровень защиты вашим онлайн-аккаунтам, требуя второй шаг проверки при входе. Помимо пароля, нужно ввести код, который генерируется приложением на вашем телефоне, даже без подключения к интернету. Приложение позволяет синхронизировать коды с Google-аккаунтом и несколькими устройствами, поддерживает настройку с помощью QR-кода, работу с несколькими аккаунтами и генерацию кодов на основе времени или счетчика. Перенос аккаунтов между устройствами также удобен с помощью QR-кода.
